Dear doctor Maggie,
I really wanted to take this time to thank you for your knowledge and dedication to my daughter Natalia Hughes. Having recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes I felt lost and confused; I thought I needed to follow all of the doctors when they told me to inject my daughter with insulin and continue to give her any kind of junk food diet.
My mother noticed that she wasn’t getting any better in fact she was getting worse because since I didn’t know how to count my own carbs I grew a fear of cooking at home and began to eat out more than I had ever done before. She began to search without knowing what she was looking for she found you, a Doctors in Oriental medicine (DOM) and using food therapy only in order to help Natalia.Thankfully she was able to recommend me to come to you and there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t think of you in our household. We are so grateful that you were able to give us the guidance and the knowledge to change our diet and defy her diagnosis.
It has now been 4 months but she has been insulin free. She is continuing to take her Lantus at night but I have not given her a drop of Humalog since our visit to your office. Her ac-1 level was at a 4.9.
I want to thank you again for giving us back a sense of normality and the knowledge and ability to show our daughter that she can have control over her body not the other way around.
